Second, the necessity for mains power which also puts the transformer close to the circuit and possibly causes some nice. First, they are pretty noisy pedals, especially at higher gain. Now, of course, there are undeniably quirks with the design. The Boss blues driver is probably the closest, but it is not as rich in the overtones and harsher at high gain. The Buffalo Td-X is great a really nice pedal that comes close'ish, but it is not like a real Tube Driver. But a Big Muff on top for the occasional Fuzz thing and I don't really want another dirt pedal. it seems to produce an unparalleled rich overtone spectrum. IMHO, TD's excel in all gain regimes - beautiful low gain tones, juicy crunch and and smooth, fat and chewy high gain lead tone. I have three that I run in my home studio (into clean tube amps HI-Tone, Twin, Morgan) and I am totally crazy about them. Maybe someday, but for now the places I play don't call for that elaborate of a set up, so by TD-X will just have to be the one to keep leaving the house for now. One for light overdrive, and the other for higher gain. I will never sell my Tube Driver, and really if power wasn't an issue, I'd really like to have two on my board. The TD-X is more refined, controllable, and has much more headroom.

To my ears, the Tube Driver has more harmonic content and is unpredictable (in a good way). The Tube Driver and the TD-x don't sound exactly the same but the TD-x is close enough to make me happy. What does keep a permanent place on my board is my Buffalo FX TD-x. It does not keep a permanent place on by board though because of size and powering issues. Turned up a bit, there is nothing like it. I play it with a Strat into either a Mesa Boogie Lonestar 2x12 or a Lonestar Special 1x12. I had several that were very close, but none that did it for me like the BK Butler Tube Driver. I have loved Gilmour's tone for years, and tried all kinds of pedals to simulate his sound. This is my absolute most favorite overdrive/distortion of all time.
BK BUTLER TUBE DRIVER POTS PASSWORD
We have opened a discussion thread in the Pub section discussing this. We will include a very detailed password checklist. We want to highly recommend that members turn on and use TGP's two-factor authentication option. We highly recommend every member reading this change their passwords as a precaution. We have forced email revalidation for all members that have not signed on for a while. None of the accounts compromised were using two-factor authentication. Talking to one member as I am working through getting his account back in order, he informed me that his Apple password manager had been compromised and made available on the dark web. In today's world, that is false confidence you can no longer afford.Įvery account that I've restored so far to the original owner was using compromised passwords. It is heartbreaking to see that the lure of saving some money will still fool people into using those methods to save a few dollars. Unfortunately, we cannot control how members do deals.

However, the best way to prevent this is for members to exercise proper password hygiene (which I'll detail below), turn on two-factor authentication, and - I implore every single person here - only use payment methods that have buyer protection. We've made security changes that I don't want to detail here to stop them. They have scammed members in the Emporiums by creating ads with stolen photos and requesting Paypal F&F or Venmo exclusively for payment. Some fraudsters have compromised TGP accounts have in the past few days.
